Plant Kit Guide
Step 1: Let Your Plant Adjust
When you bring home a new plant, it needs time to adjust to its new environment. Let your plant stay in its original pot for 2-3 weeks before repotting. This helps reduce stress and allows the plant to acclimate to the light, temperature, and humidity of your home. Place your plant in a spot with the right light for its needs—bright but indirect sunlight works for most plants.
Step 2: Prepare Your Kit
Your plant kit includes everything you need to get started: a 4-inch pot, a potting insert, pre-mixed soil, a dirt scoop, a trellis, and fun pre-printed plant tags. Start by assembling the pot and insert, then fluff up the soil mix if it has settled during shipping. The soil blend—made of coco coir, pumice, worm castings, and horticultural charcoal—is designed to support healthy roots and provide excellent drainage.
Step 3: Potting Your Plant
Once your plant is ready to be repotted, gently remove it from its original container. If the roots are tightly packed, loosen them slightly with your fingers to help them grow freely. Add some soil to the bottom of your pot, place the plant inside, and fill around it with the soil mix. Be sure to leave about half an inch of space at the top to make watering easier. Don’t pack the soil too tightly—roots need space to breathe!
Step 4: Add Plant Tags & Support
If your plant is a climber or needs extra support, insert the trellis into the pot, placing it carefully so it doesn’t damage the roots. Use the pre-printed plant tags included in your kit to label your plant. Each tag features a fun saying to add personality to your setup—perfect for Instagram-worthy plant shots!
Step 5: Water Plant Food
Water your plant only when the top inch of soil feels dry, or when no dirt sticks to your finger after touching it. Overwatering is one of the most common mistakes for beginners, so less is often more. While fertilizer is not included (but can be an addon) we recommend using a mix of liquid seaweed and epsom salt to boost plant health. Always dilute fertilizer according to the instructions and apply sparingly.
Bonus Tips for Healthy Plants
Place your plant in a spot where it gets the right amount of light. Check its care tag or do a quick search online for specific light requirements.
Rotate your plant occasionally to ensure it grows evenly.
Dust the leaves gently with a damp cloth to keep them healthy and maximize photosynthesis.
If you notice yellowing leaves, browning tips, or other issues, don’t panic! Check for common problems like overwatering, underwatering, or low humidity, and adjust your care routine as needed.
